GAMBIT
Who is Gambit?
Gambit, real name Remy Etienne LeBeau, is a mutant member of the X-Men with the ability to mentally create, manipulate, and discharge pure kinetic energy. His signature move is charging small objects — most famously playing cards — with energy and hurling them as explosive projectiles. He can also charge larger objects and, at his most powerful, can tap into a near-limitless supply of kinetic energy that makes him one of the more dangerous mutants in the Marvel universe.
Born in New Orleans, Remy was kidnapped as a baby by the Thieves' Guild due to a prophecy that he would unite the warring Thieves' and Assassins' Guilds. He was raised by the LeBeau clan and trained from childhood to be a master thief — making him exceptionally skilled in stealth, hand-to-hand combat, and acrobatics even without his powers. His weapon of choice is a metal staff, and he's almost never seen without a deck of cards somewhere on him.
Gambit has a long and complicated history with Rogue, a fellow X-Man whose power prevents her from touching anyone without absorbing their memories and abilities. Despite this, the two share one of the most iconic romances in X-Men history. Gambit is known for his charming, roguish personality, his Cajun accent, and his morally grey past — he's been a villain, a thief, an antihero, and a hero depending on the era.
